The Function of the Camera Module Camera Lens
Oct 29, 2024Camera module refers to the focal length camera lens system integrated in mobile phones, tablet computers, digital cameras and other devices. It usually consists of multiple components, the most important of which is the imaging lens.
The function of a camera lens is to capture light and focus it on the image sensor, resulting in a clear image. Here are some common functions of a camera lens:
Focus: The security camera lens can change the focus distance by adjusting the position of the lens element, so that the subject and background can be kept clear. Generally, the autofocus function can automatically adjust the focus settings according to the shooting scene.
Aperture: Aperture controls the amount of light entering the CMOS lens. It can control depth of field (clarity of foreground and background) and exposure (brightness of image) by adjusting aperture size. Larger aperture allows for shallow depth of field and better shooting in low light conditions.
Focal length and zoom: Some surveillance camera lenses have the function of adjustable focal length, which can achieve optical zoom. By changing the degree of focus of the lens on the light, subjects at different distances can be photographed, and the scene can be narrowed when shooting distant subjects.
Lens coatings: lenses with filters may be coated with a special coating to reduce light reflection and scattering, thus improving image clarity and contrast. These coatings reduce light loss and improve image quality.
Stabilization (optical or electronic): Some M12 mount lenses have image stabilization to counteract shake during handheld photography, resulting in a more stable image. Optical image stabilization uses a stabilization mechanism inside the lens, while electronic image stabilization relies on the movement of the image sensor to achieve stability.
Field of view: The field of view of a camera lens refers to the horizontal and vertical range that the lens can capture. A fisheye wide-angle lens can capture a wider scene, while a smaller field of view is suitable for scenes that require more detail and magnification.
These functions can be achieved through the coordinated work of multiple parts in the camera module, such as lens elements, focus motors, and aperture control. Different camera modules may have different specifications and functions, depending on the purpose for which the device is designed.
